Artigo: The Magic of Mies van der Rohe

The Magic of Mies van der Rohe

New York City’s renowned Museum of Modern Art is currently holding the exhibition, “Cut ’n’ Paste: Architectural Assemblage to Collage City”. This exhibition explores the evolution of collage, as a fundamental yet overlooked technique of architectural representation. Most importantly, one of our favorite designers, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, was featured in this exhibit. The work of Mies van der Rohe opens the exhibition showcasing seamless digital collages that dominate contemporary architectural practices and feature his experiments in photomontage, graphic design, and film.

Museum of Modern Art

During our visit one piece really caught our attention –  a collage titled, “860/880 Lake Shore Drive, Apartment Building Chicago”. An interior perspective of a living room, the exhibit features a cut and paste gelatin silver print, graphite and ink on an illustration board. The most eye-catching part of the image was the furniture from the designer’s Barcelona collection – one of EMFURN’s favorites.

Barcelona Collection

The Barcelona collection has simple, clean lines that look fantastic in any interior. These pieces work together as a collection or can be paired with many other modern designs.

Check out this interior. The chairs, ottoman, coffee table and day bed are all part of the Barcelona collection and work together perfectly to create a sleek, modern space!

Barcelona Chair and bed
