Finn Juhl :: 100 years of timeless design
A birthday bash near Juhl’s private holm is organized by the Ordrupgaard Art Museum north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Finn Juhl’s private house will be opened to the public all year round offering guided tours for people interested to rediscover the private life of the Danish talent. Talks, exhibitions as well as various activities for children are included in the celebratory program to make a memorable event for all ages.
In Stockholm, Sweden, the Danish Embassy opens doors to an impressive exhibition commemorating Finn Juhl’s life and designs.
Finn Juhl’s creative work has also left a significant footprint in New York. The Council Chamber in the United Nations Headquarters in New York was entirely designed by the prominent talent in the 1950s. He designed everything from the colourful ceilings to the wall panels and furniture. To celebrate Juhl’s timeless appeal, the Chamber will undergo full restoration to be completed in January 2013.
Love for Danish design goes as far as Japan! “The Universe of Finn Juhl” at the Ozone Tower Gallery 1 in Shinjuku, Tokyo is the place to be if you wish to explore a selection of the designer’s iconic work and most popular pieces like the Pelican Chair and Armchair 133.
